Sam Mattacott

Sam Mattacott is a UK-based artist working mainly with 3D animation tools, enamoured with the infinite possibilities that they enable. These tools have typically been set up to make work that mimics photographic reality, employing techniques to trick the eye into believing the image was shot on a camera. What’s interesting to Sam is when these tools are taken out of context, and the process is explored, outside of its assumed outcome; using the same techniques to make work that prods at the definition of ‘reality’ instead of trying to directly replicate it.
